Nepalese Lewisham restaurant Panas Gurkha, owned by Sujan Katuwal, has delivered more than 5,000 meals to NHS staff working at Lewisham Hospital and local hospices.
Panas Gurkha has been busy and remained open even in lockdown for takeaways, but decided even during financially tough times to make it a priority to support local charities – including local community projects such as Skills and Care, Woolwich Service User Project, Greenwich and Bexley Community Hospice and HomeInstead.
The restaurant has given donations of 8,000 sanitizers wipes, hot meals for the voluntary workers in the local Woolwich Common Community centre, and even provided use of the restaurants company cars, and also donates two industrial fridges to local hospitals.
In June of last year the Queen recognised his voluntary commitment to help feed NHS staff and local hospices and homeless shelters and was awarded the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service. His efforts were recently highlighted in an ITN Evening News report on 14th January 2021
